According to customer requirements, services and design conditions valve is designed in different materials and Seal selection is defined accordingly.
Most commonly used seals are Elastomers, like HNBR, VITON GF or VITON GLT, specially developed for such service condition, but when the service temperatures or service conditions becomes more aggressive other seals must be selected preferably lip seals made of PTFE, or, in higher temperatures and aggressive H2S service, graphite sealings.
For gaseous sevice, it is necessary to take some precautions to avoid lacerations to the elastomeric compounds on the valve. Due to sudden pressure decreases, this effect can generate serious damage on the gasket with the subsequent loss of effectiveness, In order to avoid this, ED properties compounds are used. FLUVAL propose these compounds as standard on classes 600# and above.
